Reply:nothing could be further from the truth.

the whole point of the joke is that canadian lumberjacks are so incredibly macho that when they find a transvestite among them they cannot deal with it. (the chorus of lumberjacks which sings along behind the first two verses walk off the set in disgust when they find that the michael palin character wears 'high heels, suspenders and a bra').

incidentally when the sketch was first transmitted it immediately followed the 'dead parrot' sketch. there is a link between the two sketches. when the parrot first falls from its perch michael palin's shopkeeper (who is about to transform into the lumberjack) says:

"It's pining."
Reply:Because it's hysterical
