How do I grow a gorgeous indoor garden?

I am 13 and I said this question because I live in a townhouse and they give you no space what so ever to plant anything (not even grass!) and if you do grow a garden, the curious and wild littlier children will mess with it and so will the pit bulls that roam around (scary, isn't it), and I said this because my teacher got me interested in flowers. I am interested in it and wanted to try it. A lot of details would be highly appreciated! I am just starting to love flowers, help me please!

How do I grow a gorgeous indoor garden?
there are lots of plants that are very happy to grow indoors in pots and trays on windowsills. just have to be more careful about watering as most plants dry out easily indoors but dont like being over watered
Reply:do some research on line to find the most adaptable flowers and plants that do well indoors, use decorative pots with saucer bottoms so water doesnt go on floor after watering some may need sun so put them near windows with light during day also the pots with saucers are really great with wheels so you can move them around if needed...nature is great and your 13 and should find gardening, even if indoors very rewarding..

I need a natural holistic method for getting rid of intestinal worms and fleas in dogs?

Please do not answer and advise me to use Advantage or advantick or any such drops on her neck. I have a German Shepherd, 8 years, and she has constant worms. The deworming medicine (oral) my Vet gives doesn't work. (Strongid-t). because of reinfestation with fleas. We try to keep the fleas under control (it is quite a battle), and she does not get a lot of exposure to other animal feces, but somehow she is reinfecting herself. Maybe weakened immunity.

What do you think of diatomaceus earth, or claendula flowers or wild chrysanthemum flowers added to her food? Tr

I feed her a diet of various raw and poached meats and grated carrots and sometimes beets and and and flax seeds (pulverized) and Dolomite, and vit B's and fish oils and MSM.

But still worms. I tried garlic-no luck.

Battling the fleas is very time consuming. I recently discovered that liquid Ivory soap baths kills them dead, but I have to shampoo her every week, because she picks them up when I walk her in Miami

I need a natural holistic method for getting rid of intestinal worms and fleas in dogs?
I am not sure about a natural alternative for parasites. I know of a product that is meant for humans called Paratrex. This product does contain Diatomaceus Earth. I have a few friends that have them Diatomaceus Earth. I would also try using a Holistic Vet and there website is http://www.ahvma.org/.

My friends have also given them the Paratrex in a reduced dosage.

An effective herbal remedy to eliminate parasites in HUMANS (not sure about our canine friends) is liquid extracts of clove, black walnut and wormwood. Take 10 drops of each 2xs/day for one month, allowing existing parasites to be killed, as well as their eggs.

Good luck!

Reply:Hello I am also very hesitant to feed my dogs poison even if its supposed to be safe. what i use is a natural product called Kocci Free from a company called Amber Technology the web address is http://www.parvaid.com/products.php. i have used their natural products constantly for infections and once i used their Parvaid product to help my girlfriend save one of her dogs that got the horrible parvo virus. we took him to the vet they charged us about 2,000 dollars for a one night stay and basically told us he was going to die. after some web research we found this product tried it out and with in about two days he was up and eating like if nothing had happened. i have a lot of faith on these people and i use their products often including their dewormer and heart worm formula. i think that this is the best product you can buy if you want a ready made product for your dog that is natural. and about the flea problem there is a natural herbal product at petco that i cant remember the name but i used it and it worked rather well. i hope this helps and keep your dog as happy as possible

What kind of tree is this (pics included)?

I planted wild flowers but this has grown from the soil along with them. I have no idea what it is. It looks like a young tree, it's about a foot and a half tall right now and producing berries which are green at first then turn purple. there are 3 total growing around the same place the others are smaller. do you have any idea what kind of tree/plant it is? Here are the links for pics of the berries it's producing and the leaves.

It's definitely in the genus Solanum, probably black nightshade, Solanum nigrum, and absolutely not a tree!

Chive like flowers?

i have clumps of grass that have tubular stems and are topped with blue spikey flowers. stems are chivelike and a dark green...anyone know for sure...they grow wild behind my garage...

Chive like flowers?
First of all, Chives is a tiny, little village in SW France. Please don't eat it.

BUT, YOU CAN eat those chives in your yard.

Pull the plant up, is it growing in clumps? Are there small, white, elongated bulbs at the end? Are the leaves like straws? Do they smell like chives? I like mine in a roux over potatoes.

Wash thoroughly, and enjoy!! Here is a link for photographs.

Reply:Smell it or taste it, it sounds like chives.
Reply:Wild onions.
Reply:take a bite of one..sounds like chives..which is an herb actually and tastes like onions..wash them what you ull off and can cook with them

i love the taste
Reply:Could be larope or society garlic. If you cut it and it smells musky, like a skunk, it's the latter.
Reply:chives have been known to grow wildly. Check to see if it is a small bulb and then pick some stems, wash, and taste, they are probably chives.
Reply:Any of the allums look like this. Wild onions.

Seniors do you remember the documentaries on Africa?

...dry plain, distant rumble of thunder, rain... then wall to wall wild flowers. Does this ever happen where you live?

Seniors do you remember the documentaries on Africa?
Nowadays, the plains are all covered with shanty towns, the flowers have all gone and the Janjaweed are shooting up the population and raping and burning the inhabitants. Long live progress.

I was in Africa back in the fifties and thought the world was heading for wiser and more stable times. I was wrong.
Reply:I remember watching such documentries as a child. What shocked me at the time (1950s) on a film screen, with projector, was the native ladies boobs being hung out. At the time that seemed shocking!!

If you were a legendary old man with a green hat?

and were facing a very dufficult challege would you feel all crampy sweaty and a little satanic OR relieved and happy skipping through fields of wild flowers?

If you were a legendary old man with a green hat?
i don't think skipping would be a good idea at this point
Reply:for reals.. ? tell him to drink a tablespoon of olive oil in some warm water. then drink a beer or two, and have some coffee. and next time he goes to the store, tell him to buy some salad fixins , and actually eat them this time. not just use them for fridge decor.
Reply:Well, lets just say that he will be back and it is up to him whether he wants to take the route of satanic or the skipping through fields.
Reply:idk - never heard of a legendary man with a greeen hat, so don't know his legend or character. if it were me, i wouldn't feel either of your choices tho...

Where did the Cannas Flower originate?

Need to know about Cannas Flowers and how they care for them how tall they grow? do they grow wild somewhere in the world If so where? What is the color of the flowers they produce?

Where did the Cannas Flower originate?
they are from tropical and subtropical areas of north and south america. they come in red, yellow, pink and variations of the above. they need full sun, moderate water and grow to be 5 feet tall or more. they are absolutely gorgeous.

Sematic deviations, Phonetic parellelisms, what r they in sonnet18 of shakespear and in th novel of oscar wild

The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn.

From the corner of the divan of Persian saddle-bags on which he was lying, smoking, as was his custom, innumerable cigarettes, Lord Henry Wotton could just catch the gleam of the honey-sweet and honey-coloured blossoms of a laburnum, whose tremulous branches seemed hardly able to bear the burden of a beauty so flamelike as theirs; and now and then the fantastic shadows of birds in flight flitted across the long tussore-silk curtains that were stretched in front of the huge window, producing a kind of momentary Japanese effect, and making him think of those pallid, jade-faced painters of Tokyo who, through the medium of an art that is necessarily immobile, seek to convey the sense of swiftness and motion. The sullen murmur of the bees shouldering their way through the long unmown grass, or circling with monotonous insistence round the dusty gilt horns of the straggling woodbine, seemed to make the stillness more oppressive. The dim roar of London was like the bourdon note of a distant organ.

In the centre of the room, clamped to an upright easel, stood the full-length portrait of a young man of extraordinary personal beauty, and in front of it, some little distance away, was sitting the artist himself, Basil Hallward, whose sudden disappearance some years ago caused, at the time, such public excitement and gave rise to so many strange conjectures.

As the painter looked at the gracious and comely form he had so skilfully mirrored in his art, a smile of pleasure passed across his face, and seemed about to linger there. But he suddenly started up, and closing his eyes, placed his fingers upon the lids, as though he sought to imprison within his brain some curious dream from which he feared he might awake.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? a

Thou art more lovely and more temperate: b

But thy eternal summer shall not fade e

Growing wild dagga?

hi, im buying some wild dagga, or lion's tail, seeds off the internet and im wondering how i grow them. i live in virginia so im going to keep it inside at the winter, but some of my questions are like how much sunlight/water does it get and when can i take off the flowers and leaves without hurting the plant? any comments would appreciated

Growing wild dagga?
you should find what you need here....

http://www.google.com/search?q=lion%27s+...
Reply:Wild Dagga, dagga being an Afrikaans word for Cannabis but do not smoke it. Magnificent shrubs with orange flowers (mostly) or off-white. Grassland species and as such they do well in well drained to light clay soils in full sun - frost resistant. Very good for birds and butterflies. Under normal climatic conditions they need no maintenance or watering. Not familiar with your climatic set-up. When they look a bit droopy (wilted) you can water. Few types but Leonotis leonurus is most commonly used in landscaping. Shrub max height 2 - 3m (White or Orange)

Medicinal usage from asthma to hemorrhoids. I am familiar three types with L. leonurus, L dubla (forest leonotis), L. intermedia (broad leaf leonotis). Hope this helps a bit. Oh, and you can harvest flowers without harming the plant... these are tough fellows. Prune every season for best flowering.

Attracting wild life to my windows...?

Im allergic to bees so I try to avoid them...however I have a cat who loves sitting in the window and in a few months I will be moving into an apartment with him...I was wondering how can I attract birds and bugs (hopefully not bees) near the windows for him to watch? There is no patio area and I cant put anything out in the yard however I can hang a bird feeder from the window and I can put a window box outside with flowers or something (please note...Im not good with plants, Id like to know flowers that are good for beginners only) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Attracting wild life to my windows...?
I have seen little bird houses with suction cups that you stick to the outside of your windows... just put them up add a few peices of bread or seeds and the birds will come.. i'm sure you can buy them at home improvment stores..

hope this helps

I am looking to identify hand-painted iron stone plates. The engraving on the backside of the?

plate reads as best as I can make out- "Real A. Bros China- Iron Stone." At the top of the script there is a figure of a royal crown. Each plate is individually marked and numbered. The decor of the plate is painted in reds, blues and flecks of gold. At the center is a vase holding a mix of flowers, wild and others and at the rims on three sides are drawn and painted within circles (smaller plates?) a kind of bird - or may be chicken.

Can anyone help me identify this plate and lead me to where I might find additional info as I am preparing to put the plate (s)

on the market. I also think that there is a possibility that the plate (s) is circa1888s. Thanks so much for your help.

Knowing this.. go on ebay and see if you can find your design for a comparable. These links should give you a frame of reference.

Over run by chipmunks help? Have other wild life to consider, birds, squirrels %26amp; rabbits.?
They will also tear the area around your foundation up also.!!!

Buy a catch and release trap and bait it with a few Black Oil Sun flower seeds.

Just get ready to catch alot and empty the trap out 3-4 times a day until the population dwindles.

I took them to the park and dropped them off. A friend of mine just drowned them. they are very cute but a rodent don't forget that.
Reply:Poison peanuts/wheat work. These are made by the W. R. Sweeney Company. Just leave them out in several locations where you have seen them. Make sure you refill as often as you need to. My guess is that you have so many, killing just a few is not putting a dent in the population. After a few weeks, you will find it is unnecessary to re-fill as often, then not at all. They WILL be gone!

I am amazed of the people out there that get all bent out of shape out of removing rodents. Chip monks are just that. A rodent, as is a rat or a mouse. Big deal, they have a stripe down their back. So does a skunk! They are destructive, dirty, and need to be removed. Several years ago, my parents had to have their poured patio removed because these cute little critters tunneled under it to the point it caused it to lower several inches and eventually cracked in two.

Give all the animal/roden lovers a week to clear them out and then the rest they cannot remove, you can. My guess is you won't

Carter's 6 literary features - does any1 know which ones are used in the below text?

Rural Dorset is an area of scenic beauty and contrast, criss-crossed by the pretty River Stour and bordered on both sides by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Along the Wiltshire borders lie the rolling downlands of the Cranborne Chase, formerly a royal hunting ground and now a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering high chalkland views, many wild flowers, birds and butterflies.

To the east and the Hampshire borders, heathlands meet the meandering Avon Valley, which forms a delightful natural boundary with the neighbouring New Forest and its woodland and ponies. Holt Heath, a National Nature Reserve, is home to rare and unusual flora and fauna such as the shy Sand Lizard and diminutive Dartford Warbler.

Across the River Stour lies the gentle clay vale and dairying country of the Blackmore Vale, much beloved of Thomas Hardy, with its patchwork fields and hidden hamlets. Beyond, and stretching right over to the coast in the far west of the county, lies the open country of the Dorset Downs, Area of Outstnding Natural Beauty.

The serene and picturesque valleys of the Rivers Stour, Allen and Crane with their tranquil water meadows and lush vegetation are particularly rich in wildlife and make the perfect setting for an afternoon stroll or leisurely ride.

Flower?...Can you identify this please.......?

Feathery leafs like a cosmo...8 inches high...multi-stem,

blossoms... (there are 3) they are about the size of a pingpong ball, they are round like a balloon with a star shape on the front of it...i have waited for it to open but I think these bizare round things are the blossom. It is all applegreen in color ...like the bells of ireland but it is not that plant...it is not a tomatilla either. It has just showed up in the midst of my flowers.

I live in Colorado and my garden is not new, at one time I did harvest wild flowers seeds from the woods, but I have never seen this before.

It is pretty and dainty but strange...any ideas?

Could i have some feedback on these new poems?

Sami’s Memory

A memento of her memory

transformed to coldness to convey

all the warmth in the world

tenderness that will forever stay

The innocent scent of first love

Places in five cities forever still

As though our spirits play in time

In the divinity of free will

My head against her heart

silences the singing sands

Gives her a chance to build inside

a world where we will forever dance

the first scent will be the last

white envelope of new perception

to my daily Christening

In the warm water reception

the poetry in me still harvested

from a soul planted in the earth

of a time when all is forgiven

in the miracle of rebirth

Grayness

Feelings innate and unexplainable

Fall in the rain, an unwelcome gift

Making the world an unbearable gray

I always thought I would celebrate

Now, the ambiguity of gesture

marked by the innocence of her gaze

My fuzzy eyes seeking hope in the haze

longing for the rebirth of the rainbow

For strangers could be anything

From saviors to Satans

When the forever fog lifts

over the oceans of coveted sleep,

Will unquestioned trust and unrequited love

Be given so unabashedly?

Yes.

Pregnant

Impregnate me with the seed of inspiration

Wild flowers that wilt in my womb

could be anything if you’d allow

become fertile pieces of denial

My fingers give a bitter lonely birth

Of never knowing human touch

Renounce our offspring as mine alone

Loveless love children I long to give your name.

Could i have some feedback on these new poems?
the last one was real weird. i think you should cultivate the stranger type stuff. its different. your own.

What do you think of these "unusual" candle scents??

ok I have found these unusual candle fragrances and I'm wondering if I should include them in my candle making business.

Here's the descripton for each one:

Cowboy Blues - This manly scent will make the cowgirls swoon! A tall, dark, handsome cowboy in faded blue jeans walked by..... leaving notes of sweet tobacco and rugged leather in the air.

Sangria - Spanish punch traditionally made with red wine and fruits, very popular in Texas! This festive blend includes red wine, sugar and cinnamon, with notes of orange, apple, lemon and peach with a touch of ginger. It's a fiesta in a bottle!

Texas Bluebonnet - Our beloved state flower! Bluebonnets are beautiful blue flowers that grow wild in the fields of Texas. This delicate, fresh floral is the epitome of Spring!

And in case you're wondering, yes I am from Texas and would be selling these in Texas.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

What do you think of these "unusual" candle scents??
I am originally from Texas and I think all of these are really great ideas- very creative and not comonly seen.

I think if you market them well, you will sell them.

A lot of people buy candles because the scents remind them of childhood, of special times, people , etc. I think these are winners- I especially like the first one. I remember being around my uncle and always feeling safe and comfortable with the scent of sweet tobacco in the air.

I am in Washington and I sell candles (mine are a lot more frou frou) but I think (especially in the south where I was born and raised) there is a market for more wild and natural scents.

I hope all goes well for you- have fun and don't be afraid to be creative and try new things, no matter what people say or think- there are scents that when I hear the name I think ,"how could that be appealing?" but when I smell them it is completely the opposite of what I expected. I am sure oyu will do great. Make a bunch and find some specialty, tourist, gift shops and ask to put a few in there- scatter them as far as you can and I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

Mix them up with some creative "texas style" candle holders- use the unexpected and display them creatively with Texa pride- the more 'personality' you put into them the more unique and attractive they will be to the buyer!
Reply:sure if you can make them smell the way you want to
Reply:I don't think the first two would "catch on"- But your Texas Bluebonnet scent shows promise... Go back to your drawing board and do alittle tinkering. Maybe something with a "leather" scent (as in a horses saddle) or a creosote flavor (like the way the land smells during a long awaited rain). Keep up the good work- %26amp; I'll be keepin' an eye out for your candles! :)
Reply:Cowboy Blue- may sell sometimes in candles the name sells its self like for instance I make candles and "Butt Naked" sells really well people like the name plus it smells really nice and also to capture there attention I have a naked baby laying on his stomach on the label its catchy and gets everyone else's attention.

Texas Bluebonnet- Didn't do very well at all for me in fact I discontinued it as many of the floral scents usually don't do very well except White Jasmine, Lavender, Gardenia, Sweet Pea, Eucalyptus, Fig, and Roses.

Sometimes Candles smell so good and then I can't seem to understand why that particular smell or candle isn't selling very well and I have found by just changing the name of the candle to something more suiting or exotic people buy it. So if a candle doesn't sell well but you like the scent of it try changing the name or jazzing up the label or methods of marketing.
Reply:if you make a hundred I hope you have space to store the 99 that don't sell

Is it possible to get my roses to come back?

I moved into this house last august and was told that the 5 rose bushes have gone wild and will never flower. I live in zone 5. Is there something I can do (fertilize, prune, ect.) to get them back?

Is it possible to get my roses to come back?
If this was a grafted rose and the rose died back to the ground over winter or the graft failed, you could be seeing growth from the root stock, generally a much hardier, vigorous but otherwise not garden worthy rose.

"Grafted roses, commonly referred to as budded plants, are plants where the desired rose is grafted or budded onto a rootstock of a different type. The point where the desired variety and the rootstock meet is called the bud union.

Own-root roses may be recommended for those in very cold climates. This is because an own-root rose that dies back to the ground during the winter can grow back the next year from the roots. If a grafted rose dies back to the ground, what will come up next Spring is the rootstock variety, usually an undesireable variety of rose."

When a rose "goes wild" that is dies back below the graft, the wild growth looks every bit like a rose....thorns and all, but usually blooms with small white flowers.

If you live in zones 5 and north you need to remember to plant a grafted rose with the graft 4 inches below the ground level.
Reply:Honey, roses are more hearty than you think. You do have to fertilize it (a bit of rose fertilizer--buy it in the garden center) in spring and every month or two, but if it's getting huge and isn't flowering it's because you haven't pruned it. Some roses are continuous bloom and some are just a once-of-year. Go check out a book from your library on roses, and determine the type. While you're at the garden center grab a pair of pruners and have at it. Cut back to the first group of 5 leaves you see (the closest to the tip, not to the base) and you're gonig to be getting them in the droves. All roses are wild by nature, it's humans who tame them. Water it every other day. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Trilli
Reply:All roses bloom, even wild ones. Go ahead and prune them back. If the growth is coming from above the graft they have not gone wild. if the growth is below the graft they have and the grafted part has died. Wild roses usually have more flowers but they usually only have 5 petals as opposed to the hybrid tea or floribunda types. But they are just as attractive IMHO. Feed them with a balanced fettilizer. You may be surprised at the results.
Reply:try all of things you mentioned and see what happens...

good luck...
Reply:Absolutely. Prune very hard, preferably in the spring. Dig in some bonemeal around the roots.

And if you deadhead after the blooms have faded you will get more flushes.
Reply:use Bayer systemic rose food or any brand that is "systemic " It will feed the plants but also protect them from diseases and bugs....there is a great link and you can search for whatever help you need with your roses

My potted flowers are wilting?

okay well i never did have green thumb.. my hibicus plnats and trees are doing great but everything else is wilting.i have some a few wild varitys (shady ) by my door(in shade) and they are leggy and wilting i water in the morn, also my azleas on the lania are dying same my bouganvallies(sp? sorry) what iam doing HELP please lol

My potted flowers are wilting?
Okay, long explination coming. Depending on where you live, things need different conditions. Especially in pots. When night time temperatures stay about 65 degrees, cut back your plants. You don't have to go very far back, but regular cutting is healthy for most plants, ir forces new growth out from the cut spot and from the base of the plant. If your plants are potted, they may be pot bound, if so, you need to step them up into a bigger pot, or increase your watering consistantly. Here in Florida, Azaleas CANNOT take full sun and they need afternoon shade, again, that depends on where you live, again, they may be potbound. Bouganvilleas need full sun. They are called "High and Dry" plants. They normally grow in very high altitudes is quite dry soil. We grow bougies at our nursery and they get watered everyday in a 10" pot. They grow very fast and may very well be extremely potbound. Make sure all your pots have GOOD DRAINAGE and again, CHECK YOUR ROOT SYSTEMS! Plants generally need a bigger pot once a year. If you ever need any plant help feel free to contact me. Good luck and don't forget to fertilize, all pupose for most plants and acid-type for azaleas!
Reply:Don't water so much.. feed more.. get more light..

The choice of plants for shady areas can be tricky.. remember that plants need light to photosynthesize.

Consider re-potting and buy a good quality potting mix.. not the cheap wal-mart stuff! Plants need a pretty good sized container to do well in an average setting. They also need food.. Add some osmocote to the soil when you re-pot.
Reply:try watering well in the evenings instead of the morning
Reply:Could it be that your soil has to much drainage. Or not enough drainage. Or the flower root bound? Maybe move them to a different location, they might need more or less light. Good luck to you.
Reply:The azalea's and bougainvillea's need lots of sun. If they are in the shade they will not do well. I would suggest you put them in the ground, making sure to fertilize and water well.

One think I do is look up my specific plant on the Internet to get tips on their care. Many times it's just a matter of the correct fertilizer.
Reply:i feel your pain.... several of my potted plants are wilting on me too. i think i might of overwatered them, so i repotted several, but they are not responding. i'm terrible with plants.
Reply:My sister has the same problem. She just can't get it right. Too much water. Too little water. Water at night. Water in the morning.

Most of the time her problem is either the wrong size pot or the pot doesn't have drainage holes.

If the pot is small, it is hard for outdoor plants to maintain moisture. Try larger pots. Your plants will thank you.

Ensure your pots have drainage holes. Without them, the plants will die.

Another potential problem might be the soil. Add some peat moss into the mix to loosen the soil.

Continue watering in the mornings. It is the very best time for plants. Potted plants grow fungus easily and evening watering is a culprit.

After making a few changes, you should probably prune back the leggy limbs to encourage new, healthy growth. Good luck!!

Which out of these themes should i do?

I take my horse to the fair every year, and we decorate the outside of our stalls with a theme. We put up curtains, and a sign with our horses name on it. Which theme do you think would be best? If you have any other ideas besides these, please post them.

btw, my 'color' with Teva is teal(turquoise)

1.'Nature' theme- brown, green, (earth tones) curtains, staple up fake leaves, vines, flowers. Carved wood for the sign

2.Star theme- star curtains, stars on the sign, and sparkles everywhere.

3. Heart theme- heart curtains, and painted wooden hearts all over, hearts on the sign.

4.Flowers theme- Flower curtain, fake flowers stapled up, flower sign.

5. Wild animal- Cheetah %26amp; zebra print curtains, an extra sign that says: 'take a ride on the wild side', staple up fake vines and exotic plants to make it look like a jungle.

Again, if you have any other ideas, i will consider them, also, if you have ideas for the themes i already stated.

Thank you!

Which out of these themes should i do?
I really like the Nature theme. The Star theme is cute too.
Reply:I vote for the nature theme. It would probably be more appealing to the judges.

Good places to buy dishes?

My family and I are moving into a new house, and we are going to buy some new dishes. Everything we have ever had are conservative and boring, so we want something new and refreshing! Maybe wild flowers and crazy colors! Something wildly painted, bright colors, such as red, yellow, orange. We just need some places to buy some dishes. We have tried ALL of the department stores, but none have fitted our needs. Have any suggestions? WE GREATLY APPRECIATE! Thank you all SO much, and God bless ya!

Help!in animal crossing wild world how to plant flower 16x16?
Well, i can't really give you a picture, but if you do what phyllis and pelly say until they give you the golden watering can, you should be fine. kee your town perfect (ie no trash and water you flowers) they will give you the golden can. plus, when you get a flower that is white (and looks like a dandalion) and is called a jacobs ladder, that means you have a perfect town. try planting flowers and just keep trying to plant trees in the right place. it took me about a month to get a perfect town. now my town is covered in flowers . too many.

Granny & Elaine gave me the idea - An Old Poem - Comments?

In the silent forest a scream is unheard

The blaring voice shouts to deafened ears untoward

Relentless cries beseech a plead for rescue

The forest floor consumes and sounds go mute

Nearby a clearing of wild flowers sway

God's beautiful creations quick to allay

Words of angst approach a receptive ear

Answers without boundaries gently appear

Alternative paths chance an upcoming trail

Guarded with thorned briers but roses prevail

Select this route is whispered and harmonized

Death and life argue til truth is realized

Granny %26amp; Elaine gave me the idea - An Old Poem - Comments?
This is beautiful. I can see ruins and the path towards them, also a verdant field full of promise. I am the person walking the path, and I choose the ruins...only to sit and linger on the beauty of the field, which should be appreciated for itself and not for what can be made of it. A deep, reflective poem. I am in awe. Thank you for this gem.
Reply:It's beautiful. I love poetry of the Earth and this is one of my favorites. I don't believe I've seen this one before, so I'm happy you reposted it.
Reply:A beautiful "green" poem. It may be old, but the sentiment is newly being echoed by those of us who are making an effort to keep the Earth from being destroyed by its greatest predator--Homo Sapiens.
Reply:Message sublime even in this early poem you penned. The first two lines caused me to stumble but from then flowing. Perhaps me. My compliments though, well done.

Calling on WY help. Can you help us find easy/moderate day-hikes in the Grand Teton area?

First time visitors to Wyoming, we have a pack trip planned for 4 days in the Gros Ventre area. Never been above 4,000 ft in altitude so looking to do a little hiking at higher elevations to get use to the elevation change. Easy to moderate day-hikes of 5-10 miles are desired. Looking for less traveled trails with great opportunity to see wildlife and wild flowers. Trip is end of July.

Request information on the trail name, trailhead access and short description. Thanks in advance for the help!

Calling on WY help. Can you help us find easy/moderate day-hikes in the Grand Teton area?
Have you checked out the National Park website for the Teton's? I think it has a few day and over night hikes on it.
Reply:Try looking here. www.nps.gov/grte/pubs/brochures/dayhikes...

Taggert/ bradley lakes are beautiful you are going to be a little late for the best wildflowers, but good time to see animals. Lots of people though. If you have the time just get in the car drive way back in the gros ventre and walk from there. You will hardly see a soul. The gros ventre is full of cool stuff most of it is not marked, just get out there and find it. I like soda lake if you can find it.

the whole point of the joke is that canadian lumberjacks are so incredibly macho that when they find a transvestite among them they cannot deal with it. (the chorus of lumberjacks which sings along behind the first two verses walk off the set in disgust when they find that the michael palin character wears 'high heels, suspenders and a bra').

incidentally when the sketch was first transmitted it immediately followed the 'dead parrot' sketch. there is a link between the two sketches. when the parrot first falls from its perch michael palin's shopkeeper (who is about to transform into the lumberjack) says:

"It's pining."

Any tips for traveling I-10 through the desert?

I plan on going on May 7th (starting in LA), car camping in National Parks, and birding along the way. My destination is Truckee, CA. My priorities are to see beautiful landscapes, wildlife, wild flowers, birds, etc. I may stop at Big Bend NP, Saguaro NP, Joshua Tree, Death Valley. Any other places I should stop? Is I-10 a fast road? Boring? Empty? Any advice you could give would be helpful. Thanks.

Any tips for traveling I-10 through the desert?
Th I-10 spends a large amount of time in the desert without a lot of scenery to look at. I highly recommend taking plenty of water with you. Other than when passing through urban areas, you should be able to make pretty good time.

One stop I would recommend that you make is Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. It is actually closer to the 10 than Big Bend so I don't think you mind going a little out of your way.

If you are not on a time schedule, I would recommend taking the 395 through California rather than the 5. The 395 runs on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas and has some really nice scenery. Sights along the 395 include the Manzanar Interment camp from WWII and the Mammoth Ski Resort area which has Devil's Postpile NM nearby. If the road is open, you can also go into Yosemite from the east side. The 395 will take you into Nevada and you can head over the mountains into Lake Tahoe then on to Truckee. In Nevada, you might want to check out Carson City and Virginia City.
Reply:Drive on the right side of the road.
Reply:Just to go early morning, before the heat is worse. Plus thats the best time for wildlife.
Reply:worth stopping in Palm Springs/Palm Desert and anza borrego, the salton sea is a little out of the way, but a bit of a trip

"worldling about...staying somewhere...all alone

away from everyone else. Where all my cares don't have to matter again.

When all i sense are...dew drops glistening on grass and petals of colorful wild

flowers...sun kissed green meadows...sweet melodic chirping birds..

gentle rustling of tree branches and leaves...soft breeze...sparkling water rippling

freely...blue skies...silver linings...slowly turning to a picturesque painted hues of

pinks, oranges and purples....and then dancing silhouettes and shadows cast against

grey...cool breeze...star clad black skies...millions and millions of shimmering

lights...twinkling little bright light bulbs...sparse translucent cloud hovers over a

fantastic moon...the biggest one I've ever seen...illuminating glorious light for the

darkest of night...i reach out and i can almost touch it....

softly chirping crickets...lulling my weary soul to a peaceful sleep.."

What litrary features are in this text! and why the return of native novel is more literary than it?

What litrary features are in this text! and why the return of native novel is more literary than it?
Quite a few questions have ben asked about Hardy recently- particularly this one- it would be worth using the search field.

The passage above is purely descriptive using everyday language and everyday associations. This passage can readily be contrasted with the first page of Hardy's novel which is witten in a poetic style using simile, metaphor, personification and words with double meanings- that is why it is "literary"

Examples: the cloud cover is like a "tent"- simile; the word "instalment" in the second paragraph has more than one meaning (something being put in place and an early payment of a piece of night). Personification: the "face" of the heath.

Just think of the contrasts between common language and that of the great writers and you will appreciate what literary means

Daisies for wedding flowers in end of July/begining of August? With red and white as wedding colors?

I love daisies! They are my favorite flower and they have them all over my parents land growing wild and very pretty. My mom wants to make my flowers for the back home reception for my destination wedding to save money. She used to work at a flower shop. How well do you think this would work with red and white as the wedding colors? Or at this time of the summer?

Daisies for wedding flowers in end of July/begining of August? With red and white as wedding colors?
I think daisies are great, especially if you like them. My wedding was in the beginning of July, and I had Gerbera Daisies in my bouquet. I loved my flowers and got many compliments on them. The daisies were the flowers that were showcased in my bouquet, and were highlighted by ivy (which stands for marriage) and then other flowers with colors that coordinated with the bridesmaids dresses.
Reply:I love daisies as well! I plan to carry a bouquet of multi-colored Gerbera daisies as well as some regular white-and-yellow daisies at my wedding. I think you should use regular white daisies with a few bright red Gerbera daisies mixed in as your flowers, to match your wedding colors. I think late summer is the very best time to have daisies as your wedding flower. To me they are just so innocent and lovely. Good luck!
Reply:I'm a fellow daisey lover...and that includes a daisey-look-a-like flower, gallardia or indian blanket flower.....I have them both planted in my flower bed...the daisies are 'Broadway Lights'...they open up into a pale buttery yellow but then soften to a creamy white.....my gallardias are 'Arizona Sun'-a bright red %26amp; orangey-yellow and "Oranges%26amp; Lemons'-the name reflects the citrus-y colors....

Daisies would look great in a white %26amp; red bouquet.....I would look into Mums as well-they do come in daisey-look alikes but are very petal lush...painted daisies as well can add a splash of color.....gebera are over-done right now but they are an option......and this is daisey season...mine are in over-drive right now...good luck.
Reply:daisies are one of my favorite flowers, too...you can definitely use them, just mix them with some red colored wildflowers, and the bouquet will look great...
Reply:I think they would look cute! Especially if you kind of went with a country style wedding reception.
Reply:Sounds very pretty.... I would stick to all those colors... it is perfect for the summer.
Reply:I think it would be fine for your reception back home... and it will save you money too. You could always order some red flowers from Sams or CostCo to add in to keep your color scheme
Reply:i think ti will be great, especially since they are your favorite

What month would you rather be married in?

May: In a grass field with wild flowers all around

OR

August: At the beach with white sand

OR

December: On an cold evening, indoors with candles all around

What month would you rather be married in?
December. Evening, and candles? It's a no brainer for me! But I'm from AZ so December is not that cold at all.
Reply:May or August. If you have hayfever... go with August :) If you have a few older people that wouldn't appreciate sand and can't find a quiet, sheltered beach, go with May. I wanted a beach wedding, because I love the beach and I really wanted to be barefoot. However the beach we were to have it at was noisy from waves.. sometimes really windy, had no natural shelter and would be so hard to get the almost immobile grandparents down. So now i'm going for the garden and having photos taken at the beach.
Reply:May is always a nice month, but with the outdoors you can't guarantee that it won't be pouring!

August is usually hot, and the same thing goes for the beach, but it rains a lot less in August than in May. (Or at least in Texas where I live, August is hotter than he** and dry as the Sahara)

December is easy because alot of churches are already decorated, plus it's easy to coordinate a winter theme. The only problem is that when it gets close to the Holidays people get really busy plus money sometime gets tight after buying presents and food.
Reply:gee, they all sound gr8,the way u write them, especially the candles/december thing.but,my friend had a winter wedding not many people attended-it was one of the worst blizzards of the season, people were told not to drive if at all possible-so,december is a weather risk.it would be sad 2 have a wedding, and no one shows up!august is sticky, even at the beach.i will go with may-in fact,i was married may 20th,2006!!!!we had a beach reception in fact, and the weather was moderate and perfect.i am just glad i didnt marry my goth college boyfriend-it was to be halloween,at the local cemetary-what were we thinking?glad that fell thru !!!!
Reply:honestly i would recommend December, winter is a beautiful time to get married, and May and August are VERY busy when it comes to other weddings being scheduled it was hard for us to find a hall when we went through it, but i would most def. go with December :)
Reply:May

i think it would be beautiful with all the flowers around.

at the beach it is a big sandy mess (i did that).,

and december it is cold and if you live where the winters are bad, alot of people might not be able to attend due icy roads, or to much snow and you cant get out of the driveway.
Reply:All do it for me for the different reasons given above. But I`m getting married in July, with luch green foliage and flowers and the option of a beach honeymoon...best of all worlds, and I don`t have to freeze my bumps off in a dress or snow.
Reply:I'm going to say December.

I only say this because in my church the entire place is filled with lighted christmas trees and poinsettias, so you won't have to decorate! You would just have to do plan the reception.

Save some money for the honeymoon.
Reply:May.

I live in Florida %26amp; know those beach weddings are WINDY!! And sand manages to get in everything = not fun.

December also sounds really beautiful too.
Reply:Well I would say on the beach with white sand in August.

However I am being married in winter, in our garden surrounded by close friends and family. ha ha.

No white sand here and winter being cold, I am sure we will all freeze our butts off. Oh well.
Reply:Either September or December.
Reply:in december indoors with candles all around i just feel that's more formal and i love formal weddings. but i would definetely love the august beach wedding they are beautiful.
Reply:August or December

ღღღ
Reply:May or August, of those choices. But a wedding any time of the year can be nice!
Reply:May or August.

I hate it when people plan things around the holidays on top of everything else that is going on - - it is just an inconvenient time of year to plan things.
Reply:may or august but my wedding is in july.
Reply:august, but i would rather be married in october
Reply:May!
Reply:AT THE BEACH IN AUGUST EARLY IN THE MORNING OR LATE AT THE AFTERNOON IF THE SUN IS SETTING
Reply:May.
Reply:I wanted may but my mother picked my wedding date which is this coming august.
Reply:MAY!!!
Reply:May. August can get way too hot and sticky. December is too close to Christmas and my birthday. I want my anniversary to stand by itself
Reply:Def. in May- I LOVE Spring!!!!!!
Reply:august or may
Reply:There is NO good month to get married in. There is no good reason to get married....period!
Reply:beach!
Reply:Out of those choices I would pick May.

I would not want a beach wedding. My wedding is in August!
Reply:For your choices i would pick May or August ...for mine i picked June!
Reply:out of your choices i'd pick may or august. but for my own i picked july
Reply:Thay all sound great. You might have a better chance at finding a deal in December...but the hustle and bustle of Christmas may take away from your special day.

Maybe a fringe lily? Do a google image search on fringe lily...

Is there ANOTHER NAME for lupins, or for wild lupins..or another flower very similar to lupins? Thanks.?

A variety of lupine:

"The bluebonnet, a name common to several North American species of Lupinus, is the state flower of Texas."

"Although Lupinus texensis is almost exclusively blue in the wild, Texas A%26amp;M University researchers were successful in breeding red and white strains, creating a Texas state flag in bluebonnets for the 1986 Texas Sesquicentennial. Further research led to a deep maroon strain, the university's official color."

I find no lookalikes....hollyhocks have a similar growth pattern, but the flower is completely different.

Is there ANOTHER NAME for lupins, or for wild lupins..or another flower very similar to lupins? Thanks.?
Polyphyllus and Nootkatensis. But be careful, the seeds are poisonous.
Reply:Nope. Only lupin and lupine.

Which is the most beautiful/scenic country in Europe?

I have travelled through most of Europe and my personal opinion is Greece. Although Athens is a jungle concrete city which is stifling hot in the summer, the rest of the country is so diverse and so picturesque for its size!

For instance, in the north-west you come across magnificent gorges and lakes and forests. The north-east is full of small dotted beautiful villages and wetlands full of wildlife (like the flamingo).

The West Ionian islands have some of the best beaches in the world (independent awards), see: Navagio, Porto Katsiki, Myrtos, Antipaxos.

The Peloponese is full of theatres, ancient ruins, history and wild flowers; Greece has the most species of wild flowers in all of Europe.

Crete is a magnificent island. Here you can find the longest gorge in Europe: The Samaria Gorge. The beaches here are truly overwhelming; check out: Chrissi island, Balos, Falasarna. And because of its subtropical climate, it contains the only wild palm tree forest in europe...

Which is the most beautiful/scenic country in Europe?
Hello dear!

Well, besides Greece, which is all year great, Italy, Spain and Portugal are similar to a large extend.

For certain times other suggestions would include:

Winter: Scandinavian and Central European countries

Spring: Balkan and France

Autumn: North European countries
Reply:SWITZERLAND is the most beautiful European country !
Reply:I'm biased %26amp; will say Turkey. In the south there are beautiful beaches %26amp; lots of greenery. Central Turkey %26amp; Cappadocia are awsome with the stone caves %26amp; almost desert-like landscape. Then the east is very mountainous. North Turkey is very lush along the Black Sea %26amp; they grow tea %26amp; hazelnuts there. Farther along the southern coast citrus is grown. Along the western coast you will find cotton %26amp; wheat growing, so it's a diverse country with lots to see, many ruins %26amp; caves. Lots of antiquity to see %26amp; visit.
Reply:Southern Germany is unbelivable!
Reply:I loved Ireland. Though some on here would argue about France and Germany, I tend to disagree.

The rolling hills, the mountains, the fields are beautiful!!

Fine people, food, guinness and culture just makes it heaven.
Reply:Portugal is very beautiful. But Azores (some portugal´s islands) are awsome!!It´s cheap and the peole are very friendly.
Reply:Portugal, Spain, Greece and Türkiye are the most beautiful countries in the world, not only in Europe.

But why did u tell about Greece in the category Türkiye?
Reply:Hellas is the greatest.

What plants bloom in December in Southern California?

Hi. What plants (I'm looking for a garden plant, not wild plant) bear flowers in December in Southern California?

Do tulip bloom at that time?

Thanks

What plants bloom in December in Southern California?
Last x-mas my yard outside San Diego was a blaze in color. on x-mas morning i picked dayliles, roses, delphiniums, hibiscus, poinsettias and a bunch of flowers i didn't know the names of. (my first x-mas in Calif) i had a huge basket of flowers on out table for x-mas dinner. tulips are a different story here. you need to put them in the fridge for some time before planting or they won't grow. i suggest you contact your local master gardener sight for info. every county in California has a large master gardener program who are trained experts to answer garden questions from home gardeners. your county's farm advisor can hook you up with the master gardener sight for your neighborhood. Calif master gardeners are great. they'll send you all the info you need and it's free.
Reply:Hi, I live in Socal. What blooms in Dec:

Camellias, Pointsettias(If we're lucky), often Paperwhite Narcissus, Shade Azaleas, Cyclamen, Primroses, Pansies, Iceland Poppies, Snapdragons.
Reply:Locally you can get information from your college extension service or from your county master gardeners. Tulips require many hours of chill time to grow. It never gets cold enough in your area. I do remember reading that tulips stored in an icebox works, but for how long, as the master gardener experts.
Reply:Southern California is a big area with many elevations, night temperatures, salt conditions, and mini-climates. If the days are warm and the nights are cool (but not frigid) where you live, most varieties of tulip should bloom if planted for December blooms.

Your bulb source should be able to give you the timing for planting for December blooms. Refrigerate the dry bulbs for about two weeks prior to planting.

We might have a nest of abandoned wild duck eggs. What should we do?

Saturday morning we noticed a female mallard had laid several eggs in our front flower bed (she had been around the bed since last Tuesday). She was there all day Saturday, and yesterday, but has not been seen all day today. Should we worry? We have been out several times to check on her, giving her food (yeah, now I know we should not have), and my husband put out a small thing of water. I am worried that we have driven her away and that the eggs will die........

We might have a nest of abandoned wild duck eggs. What should we do?
As I am sure you realize now, you should NOT place food near a nest. Putting food near a nest will attract predators, such as other birds, rats, raccoons, possum, etc. - animals that will destroy the eggs or eat the chicks. When a mother bird picks her nesting site, she finds one that has an abundant food supply close enough to be convenient, but not close enough to attract predators and endanger her nest.

Hopefully, the mallard will be back. If there are only a few eggs, she is not even finished laying the eggs. She will not start incubating them until all the eggs are laid.

If you continue to disturb the nest, she WILL abandon them. To her, you are a predator, and she will not return to the nest until she is sure it is safe.

Unfortunately, if she has abandoned the nest, there is NOTHING you can do about it. In the US, all native migratory birds are protected under federal law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act). It is illegal for anyone to possess a protected bird, its nest, its eggs or even its feathers unless they have the required federal and state licenses. It is also illegal to disturb an active nest. Penalties for violating this law include fines of up to $500 and/or up to 6 months in jail for each offense.

It doesn't even matter if you did not mean to break the law: "A type of question that we commonly get involves well meaning people who want to rescue young or injured birds, secure feathers for artwork, or salvage eggs or nests for various purposes.

Anyone desiring to possess migratory birds or their parts or products should be aware that all of these are covered under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16U.S.C. 703-712), which implements a series of international treaties designed to protect migratory birds.

Some key provisions of the Act are worth keeping in mind:

Wording of the Act makes it very clear that most actions that result in "taking" or possession of a protected species or its parts or products is a violation of the Act. Specifically, the Act states:

"Unless and except as permitted by regulations, …it shall be unlawful at any time, by any means, or in any manner…to pursue, hunt, take, capture, kill, …possess, offer for sale, sell, …purchase, import…any migratory bird, any part, nest, or eggs of any such bird…"

It is a "strict-liability" law, meaning that there is no requirement for law enforcement agencies to prove "intent" to violate the law. That is, if you are found in possession of a protected species or its parts or products, you are automatically in violation of the law.

The provisions of the Act are nearly absolute; "...except as permitted by regulations ..." is the only exception. Some examples of permitted activities that do not violate the law are legal hunting of specific game birds, legitimate research activities, display in licensed zoological gardens, and bird banding under an appropriate permit.

The Act covers the great majority (83%) of all native birds found in the U.S. Many of the species not covered by the Act are covered by the Endangered Species Act , other Federal laws, or state laws, many of which are as stringent as the Migratory Bird Treaty Act . In the lower 48 states, all species except the house sparrow, feral pigeon, common starling, and non-migratory game birds like pheasants, gray partridge, and sage grouse, are protected.

Penalties upon conviction can be severe. Even if a sympathetic jury finds that you meant no harm in trying to rear an abandoned nestling or in picking a hawk feather, legal defense costs are clearly not worth the risk.

In summary: your best approach is to take a hands off approach...look but don't collect." http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/about/faqs/bir...

So leave the nest and the eggs alone and hope for the best.
Reply:I know this seems cruel, but you should leave them alone. If you live in the US it is actually illegal for you to hatch wild duck eggs, unless you have a permit. Thank you for trying to help them that was really considerate! If you try to hatch them you could be fined. The best thing for you to do is to leave them alone, the mother might not come back, but yet again she might. Make sure you stay clear of that part of the yard, if she is watching the nest and sees you she won't come back. I'm sorry that there's not more that you could do for them.
Reply:Is best to leave wild creature's alone, more so when they have egg's or babies.

However, she may have been back and you not seen her.

The egg's may have gotten cold if she wasn't sitting on them, meaning they are dead.

What ever the situation, leave the nest alone.

Mother Nature knows best.
Reply:no you didn't, maybe something happend to her, If she dont come back you can hatch them for your self, Ducks are really cool, used to raise them,
Reply:if the eggs have been uncovered for more than a few hours, it's probably too late. they are dead by now.

It's not necessarily your fault.
