How can I dig up a wild mimosa tree and get it to grow in my yard? Can they be started from seed?

also called chinnese silk trees, I think. They have the fragrant pink flowers and the MANY seed pods that fall.

Yes, you can start a Mimosa from seed. I took a few seeds %26amp; planted them in some throw a way plastic cups I had. In a few days they sprouted. I kept three in our family room all winter (because I planted the seeds in the fall when they first fell). About May I put them outside in the ground. By the first fall they were three feet high %26amp; took off from there. In three years they are beautiful trees. Go for it.
Reply:They start from seed very easily. just gather some of the pods and plant them then let the strongest plant grow into a tree.
Reply:Yes, Mimosa can be started from seed quite easily. However, they are just as easy to dig up and transplant. They do make a mess, though so be prepared.
Reply:They are a weed with a large tap root, you would have to get a small tree and try not to hurt the tap root. Seeds grow fine just by sowing in the fall.
