Which is the best island in scotland to visit as a volunteer conservation warden.?

my main interests are birds, wildlife and plants (especially wild flowers) i am ok with isolation and can handle being cut of from the rest of the world. i have been to skomer island for 12 days and am looking to volunteer in scotland for at least a month.

Which is the best island in scotland to visit as a volunteer conservation warden.?
Taransay is the main one that people visit, but it is mainly secluded because not many people go. The best thing to do would be to go through the Scottish Tourist Board (the website should be under their name if you type it in a search engine) and they can tell you what programmes they run.
Reply:Oh, wish I could answer the question.

What I would say though is that if you can afford it some time to go to New Zealand and work as a volunteer with the Department of Conservation. I did that for 3 months when I was over there and it was great. DOC have offices all over NZ and as a volunteer you can actually get a visa to stay for a year rather than 6 months. You get to do all sorts of things too, from penguin habitat replenishing (planting things) to locating recently released young kiwi and any number of things. NZ has a fascinating ecosystem with indiginous species you don't get anywhere else in the world. There are no native mammals so all the ones there have been introduced by man. Even the plants are specially adapted to birdlife too. You can get newsletters sent to you if you go to www.conservationvolunteers.org.nz (yahoo won't let me put in full web site - it ends with .org .nz)

Hope that's not too unhelpful even if it's not about Scotland.
